Mission and Program Learning Outcomes

The mission of the American Sign Language A.A.S. degree program American Sign Language/English Interpretation sequence is to provide a foundation for graduates to sit for the Knowledge portion of the National Interpreter Certification examination and qualify for state interpreter licensure in numerous states across the country. Through excellent curriculum design and instruction, program faculty, staff and administrators promote fluency in American Sign Language, involvement in the Deaf community, adherence to a professional code of conduct, and a lifelong commitment to professional development.
