Jewish Thought And Culture

View Syllabus   

 

Examines intellectual and cultural achievements of Jewish civilization. In particular, the central philosophical idea of Judaism is examined through writings of key Jewish philosophers such as Maimonides, Rosenzweig and Buber. Cultural achievements in such areas as literature, film, art, and music are discussed both for their intrinsic aesthetic value and for what they reveal about Jewish life.
