First Search is a collection of electronic databases available via
the Internet. It is a fee based service and is available to Suffolk
Community College faculty and students from any Internet computer on campus,
or from home if you dial into our server. For more information please contact

Search Bank is large collection full text journals broken down by
subject areas. It is available for free from any Internet workstation
on campus, or from home if you dial into the campus server.
Britannica Online is the electronic version of the Encyclopedia
Britanicca. It is available for free from any Internet workstation
on campus, or from home if you dial into the campus server.
ERIC is a free index which indexes educational journals and documents.
AskEric is a comprehensive Web site for those doing educational research.
To search for magazine and journal articles, click on the ERIC database.
You do not have to be in the library to use this database.
The SCCC Libraries subscribe to Newsday Online which allows users
to search and retrieve articles from Newsday dating back to 1985. You have
to be in one of the campus libraries to use this service. Users without
a subscription can search Newsday for the last week. To begin the search
click on Newsday now.
This computerized directory of community services and resources
includes information on more than 4,500 health, human service and education
agencies and programs in the Suffolk County/Long Island area. It
can be searched from any Internet workstation on campus.
