About the Academic Computing Center
We have over 140 computers for student and faculty use. Each PC has MS Office and curriculum-based software such as Visual Basic.Net, JBuilder, and Peachtree Accounting to name a few.
The ACC is comprised of five rooms (Main, Beta, Gamma, Delta and the Mac Lab). Main is the room upon entering the lab. Gamma is the first room you see while signing in at the front desk. Beta is located adjacent to the staff office. Delta is the furthest room from the front desk. The Mac Lab is in the front corner of the main lab.
We have 16 new Macintosh G5s in our Mac Lab. For the most part, this room is used by the Art Department for instruction in computer art, page layout and design, and animation.
Scanners are available in both the PC and Mac areas. We have CD burners available for student usage. All of the black PC's are equipped with CD Burners and burning software. Our Macs all have CD burning capacity, with the Teachers' workstation having a DVD burned and software.
Professional Assistants are available to provide assistance. At all times at least one staff person is on duty. Each staff member has particular skills and areas of expertise.
Floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs are available at the front desk for one dollar. Reference materials are also available at the front desk. We have dictionaries, thesaurus, style manuals, and some books on programming languages. Also available for student use are staplers, scissors, and tape.
