SCCC Academic Achievements
- Dean's List
Outstanding scholastic achievement at SCCC is recognized by the compilation each semester of the Dean's List. Students whose semester grade point average is 3.5 or higher, with no incompletes, and have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours during the semester qualify for the Dean's List. This academic achievement is noted on the student's permanent record.
- Graduation with the Honors Program Diploma
Honors Program students, maintaining a 3.2 GPA, who have completed four (4) interdisciplinary honors courses plus two (2) supplementary honors courses, with B's or better, will be awarded an Honors Program Diploma. An academic achievement of graduating with the Honors Program Diploma is noted on the student's permanent record.
- Graduation with the Honors Program Certificate of Recognition
Honors Program students, maintaining a 3.2 GPA, who have completed two (2) interdisciplinary honors courses plus two (2) supplementary honors courses, with B's or better, OR three (3) interdisciplinary honors courses, with B's or better, will be awarded an Honors Program Certificate of Recognition. An academic achievement of graduating with the Honors Program Certificate of Recognition is noted on the student's permanent record.
- Graduation "with distinction" and "with highest distinction"
Students of the graduating class who have attained at least a 3.5 cummulative grade point average are graduated "with distinction." Those students who have attained at least 3.8 cumulative grade point average are graduated "with highest distinction." An academic achievement of "with distinction" or "with highest distinction" is noted on the student's permanent record.
- Pi Alpha Sigma
Pi Alpha Sigma is a College honors designation. Each semester students who have achieved a 3.5 cummulative grade point average, with no incomplete grades, and have completed at least 36 credits at SCCC receive this designation. This academic designation is noted on the student's permanent record.
- Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society for two-year colleges, has chapters on the Ammerman, Western, and Eastern Campuses. Each chapter has its own requirements. This organization recognizes and encourages scholarship among community college students. Academic requirements for this organization are available from the campus Office of the Director of Student Activites.
