Science Learning Center
The Science Learning Center is located on the lower level of the Smithtown Science Building in room T-16. The center is equipt with 14 internet enabled computers for academic purposes along with other instructional equipment for student use.
The learning center will only open during staffed hours only. Below is a current schedule of hours showing the professional tutoring available during those times.

Science Learning Center Policy
Rules
1. You must sign in every time you use the SLC, even if it is to check your email or quickly print a paper for a class that's due in two minutes. No exceptions.
2. There is no eating or drinking in the SLC.
3. There is a limit of 8 pages of printing.
4. You can not run any type of executable file in the SLC.
5. You can not apply any type of personal software in the SLC.
6. Personal audio CDs are permitted but can only be heard via headphones. Bring your own.
7. Be considerate of others. Take your cell calls into the hallway. Do not talk loud. Do not leave garbage behind.
8. Abide by the College Polices for Internet and Email usage.
Policy
Our policy for student access is very generous. Your cooperation will ensure that everyone needing access will have it. All students not involved in a scheduled class must sign in and out with their SCCC I.D. card number.
Occasionally this room may be closed for a class or lecture. To schedule a class in this room instructors should contact Cristina Scott at ext. 4312 for available times.
We remind you to moderate your voices and laughter; cell phone calls should be taken into the hallway. Food and drink are not permitted at any time. Remember this is an academic environment. Use is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Priority is given to students working on school related projects. The Physical Science Department reserves the right to move or remove a user not engaged in schoolwork.
Printing is limited to 8 pages of academic work. If you need to print more, please ask the faculty member or tutor on duty. Printing of class notes, study guides, power point outlines, image galleries, and the like will not be permitted. Changing system settings, bookmarks, adding of favorites, and downloading files to the hard drive is not permitted. Files must be downloaded and saved to removable media.
Prohibited activities:
1. Hacking the system.
2. Running .exe files.
3. Placing your own software on a computer.
4. Changing the background image.
5. Changing the default homepage on the browsers.
6. Pirating software.
7. Sending threatening, obscene, libelous, or offensive messages.
8. Using this facility for personal profit or business.
9. Viewing pornographic sites.
Students who do not comply with these requirements are subject to ejection from the Science Learning Center and could be in violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Complaints concerning student use will be referred to the Campus Dean of Students for further action.
