Suffolk County Community College Continuing Education - Power, Energy EfficiencySuffolk County Community College's Office for Continuing Education received funding from the U.S. Department of Labor to develop job skills training in renewable energy and energy efficiency.  This training is now offered as non-credit professional development training for anyone with construction, electrical or architectural experience. 

  • LEED Green Associates
  • NABCEP Solar Technology and Entry Level Photovoltaic Installer
  • BPI Energy Rater and BPI Envelope Shell

Training begins each semester.  All programs require a high school academic diploma or high school equivalency. 

Upon successful completion of a training program, you will receive a certificate of completion.  In addition, participants will be encouraged to obtain a portable, nationally recognized credential related to the training program attended.

Sufolk County Community College Energy Auditor Career

This is an excellent course for the career changer interested in energy efficiency.

Energy Auditor training covers the basic principles of building science, efficacy of building and insulating materials and energy efficiency.  Hands on efficiency testing experiences will be provided. This training follows NYSERDA's Building Analyst curriculum and prepare Students for the nationally recognized BPI exam. 

The tuition for the class is $1,595; the class is offered each semester. Placement testing takes place during the first class meeting.

Envelope Shell

This program is designed for those holding the Energy Auditor credential.

Envelope Shell training covers the basic principles of building science, efficacy of building and insulating materials and energy efficiency.  Hands-on efficiency testing experiences will be provided.  This training follows NYSERDA's Envelope Shell curriculum and prepare students for the nationally recognized BPI exam.

If you are interested in solar energy technology and have some construction and electrical installation experience, this is the class for you.

Solar Technology training covers basic solar energy principles, photovoltaic and solar panel installation.  The training meets the basic educational requirements for the North American Board of Certified Energy Professionals (NABCEP) PV Installer certification. 

The tuition for the class is $1,595, including all texts and field experiences. The course is offered each semester.

An excellent online professional development choice for architects and architectural assistants.  Learn green building design and sustainability concepts.

LEED Green Associates training prepares participants to take the V4 Green Associates exam, which is the first tier in the LEED credentialing process. The training cost is $199.
