THE ENGLISH ALPHABET
The
alphabet is a set of letters and each letter represents a sound. The word ‘alphabet’ comes from alpha and
beta, the first two letters of the Greek alphabet. The origin
of the alphabet has long been a subject for research, speculation and myths.
Alphabets are ‘phonetic systems’ where the
individual sounds of the language are represented with letters. The English
alphabet is the result of thousands of years of transformation.
There are many alphabet symbols used today.
Each language may
establish general rules that govern the association between letters and
phonemes, but depending on the language, these rules may or may not be followed.

It’s amazing
how the ‘alphabet’ (whether American or foreign) is used in many languages to
express what we want to say.
