Upon successful completion of the American Sign Language Studies Sequence/ A.A.S Degree program, graduates will be able to:

  1. Apply their knowledge of American Deaf Culture to hypothetical experience with the deaf community in ways that reflect their understanding of the differences between American Majority and American Deaf Culture.
  2. Compare and contrast the linguistics of English and American Sign Language.
  3. Communicate in American Sign Language (ASL) at a level that meets the nationally accepted standards for fluency after completion of ASL IV.
  4. Prepare an individual professional development plan for continued acquisition of ASL and professional involvement with Deaf people after graduation.
