SUNY Awards 10 From Suffolk Highest Honor

Ten Suffolk County Community College students have been awarded the State University of New York’s (SUNY) highest honor, The Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.

The students are recognized for their integration of academic excellence with other aspects of their lives including leadership, campus involvement, community service, arts (creative or performing), athletics, and/or career achievement.

“Of the more than 415,000 students in the SUNY system, only 213 received the award statewide. We are extremely proud to have ten of these exceptional students at Suffolk and we celebrate their extraordinary achievements,” said Suffolk County Community College Interim President Louis Petrizzo.

In a letter to students, SUNY Chancellor Kristina Johnson said “These student nominees are some of the most exceptional individuals across The State University of New York System. They excel academically and go to great lengths to give back to their campus and its community through their service,” and added “their success is a source of great pride for us all.”
