College Golf Classic Honors PBA President to Create Scholarships.

Noel DiGerolamo, President of the Suffolk County Police Benevolent Association (PBA) will be honored by The Suffolk Community College Foundation at its 31st Annual Golf Classic on Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Hamlet Golf and Country Club in Commack.

The proceeds from the Golf Classic will support needs-based and merit-based scholarships, emergency student loans and academic enrichment programs for Suffolk County Community College students.  The Foundation distributed $500,000 in scholarships last year.

DiGerolamo, of Mount Sinai, represents all police officers in the Suffolk County Police Department, oversees all management and budget aspects of the multi-million dollar corporation and is responsible for negotiating the PBA’s collective bargaining agreements and insuring that terms of the contract are enforced.  He is Chairman of the Board of the PBA Benefit Fund that  serves more than 5,000 active and retired members and is directly responsible for its management and oversight.  In addition, he also serves as direct liaison to the Suffolk County Legislature and the Executive Branch of Suffolk County and is the Chairman of the Coalition of Suffolk County Employees.

DiGerolamo’s selection as the Golf Classic’s honoree continues the college’s Year of Labor theme after previously honoring five distinguished Long Island labor leaders, including posthumous recognition of Suffolk Legislator William Lindsay in April.

The August 25 event will begin with 9:30 a.m. registration and refreshments followed by a shot-gun start at 11:00 a.m., a cocktail reception at 5:00 pm and an awards dinner at 6:00 p.m.

'Early Birdie' registration is $250 per golfer, $960 per foursome, with payment received by July 25.  After July 25 the registration is $275 per golfer and $1,100 for a foursome.  Registration includes golf, access to the driving range and putting green, golf cart, lunch, cocktail reception and awards dinner.
