Suffolk's Debate Team Victorious in Boston

The Suffolk County Community College Michael J Grant Campus forensics team won three awards at the Suffolk University speech and debate tournament in Boston, MA, last weekend.

The team placed fourth in the overall team awards ranking higher than four-year colleges such as Emerson College, Suffolk University and Bridgewater State College.  Although the team entered only three events at the tournament, they were just four points behind The University of Pennsylvania for 3rd place in the overall team scores

Suffolk team president Nick Krauss of West Islip placed 1st in Informative Speaking while Shadrack Boakye of Brentwood placed 2nd in Poetry Interpretation.  Nick Krauss and Shadrack Boakye have also qualified for the National Speech and Debate Championships at Ohio University in April.

Suffolk County Community College was the only community college to compete at the tournament.
