Suffolk County Community College’s Lyceum Gallery will present The Show of Delights in Contemporary Art through October 25, 2025, with an opening reception on Tuesday, September 9, from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Montaukett Learning Resource Center on the Eastern Campus. An additional Saturday opening will take place on September 20 from 12 – 4 p.m.

Curated by artist and curator Annemarie Waugh, the exhibition brings together 12 artists including Jeremy Dennis, Sue Beyer, and Stephanie Dinkins. Inspired by Ross Gay’s The Book of Delights and other literary works, including World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil, The Comfort of Crow: A Backyard Year by Margaret Renkl, and The Path to Kindness: Poems of Connection and Joy by James Crews, the show invites audiences to reconnect with beauty, community, and the joy of close observation.

Artists featured:

  • Cliff Baldwin – Aquebogue, NY–based artist, composer, and filmmaker with work in major museum collections including MoMA, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
  • Nuveen Barwari – Nashville-born, Kurdistan-raised artist whose work spans global exhibitions; MFA, University of Tennessee.
  • Marta Baumiller – Poland-born, Long Island–based artist and designer whose project-based installations focus on environment and social norms.
  • Sue Beyer – Interdisciplinary artist working between New York and Melbourne, exploring identity and technology; PhD candidate at Griffith University.
  • CHIKA – New York–based artist and educator known for projection mapping and sound-reactive works; adjunct professor at NYU and The New School.
  • Jeremy Dennis – Fine art photographer and Shinnecock Nation member; founder of Ma’s House & BIPOC Art Studio; MFA, Penn State.
  • Stephanie Dinkins – Stony Brook professor and internationally recognized artist working at the intersection of AI, storytelling, and equity.
  • Jodi Hays – Tennessee painter whose work examines Southern visual culture; exhibited nationally and collected by major U.S. museums.
  • Linda O’Keeffe – New York–based sound artist and professor at Stony Brook; founder of Women in Sound Women on Sound (WISWOS).
  • Kirstin Lamb – Rhode Island painter and RISD alum; her work is in Fidelity Investments and the Fruitlands Museum collections.
  • LoVid – New York duo creating experimental, interdisciplinary works blending analog and digital media; shown at MoMA and the Whitney.
  • Han Qin – Hangzhou-born, Long Island–based artist and curator; works internationally across digital arts and printmaking; professor at Stony Brook.
