Suffolk Named Best for Vets for Third Consecutive Year
Suffolk Named Best For Vets
Military Times, for the third consecutive year, has named Suffolk County Community College a Best for Vets college. The 2021 rankings are based on the results of Military Times’ annual survey – the most comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates of academic achievement – as well as a detailed review of public data collected by federal agencies.
Military Times’ annual Best for Vets Colleges survey asks colleges and universities to disclose academic outcome and input data, describe many aspects of veteran culture on campus and meticulously document a wide array of services, special policies, accommodations and financial incentives offered to students with military ties. Military Times also factors in data from the Veterans Affairs and Defense departments, as well as Education Department sources.
“Suffolk County Community College is proud to be recognized as a “Best for Vets” school for three consecutive years,” said Interim Suffolk County Community College President Louis Petrizzo. “Veterans need support to get back into the learning environment and they need competent help navigating the maze of VA benefits. At Suffolk we make it our business to make sure our Vets get both.”
“Suffolk County Community College is honored to be ranked 13th among public northeast colleges as a Best for Vets College. The designation is a testament to our strong academic programs as well as the collaborative efforts to provide exemplary service to our military connected students. Special thanks to the staff in the Veterans Resource Center that go above and beyond to serve our students and provide a safe community to assure their success in and out of the classroom,” said Suffolk County Community College’s Director of Veterans Affairs Shannon O’Neill.
Suffolk County Community College provides a Veterans Resource Center on each of its
three campuses staffed by experts that are knowledgeable about a variety of military
and veteran education benefits.
