Suffolk County Community College Associate Dean of Athletics and Special Events Neftali Collazo has been selected as an ambassador on the National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Council (EDI). Ambassadors develop a working framework to form EDI Region Committees and lead their respective regions in EDI initiatives.

“I'm honored to be named as an NJCAA ambassador and to represent Suffolk County Community College and our student-athletes on both a regional and national level,” Collazo said. “More importantly,” he added, “I hope to build upon all of the great things our College does when it comes to equity, diversity and inclusion through communication, education, allyship, and advocacy.”

“This is a wonderful recognition of Neftali’s work as the College’s Director of Athletics and his work with all our coaches and athletes” said Suffolk County Community College Interim President Louis Petrizzo, “and we are very grateful to him for bringing this Regional Ambassador position to Suffolk County Community College.”

Collazo resides in Coram.
