Middle and High School Students Celebrate Unity Day 2020 at Suffolk's Grant Campus

Unity Day 2020, themed How We Heal: Addressing Racial Division, gave students an opportunity to attend workshops hear a keynote presentation by El Grito de Poetas -  a group of Latinx poets dedicated to spreading information about their various cultures, heritage and traditions through spoken word and poetic performances.

Nearly 300 students from Suffolk County middle and high schools gathered at Suffolk County Community College’s Michael J. Grant Campus in Brentwood for a celebration of the 13th Annual Unity Day.

Unity Day 2020, themed How We Heal: Addressing Racial Division, gave students an opportunity to attend workshops and hear a keynote presentation by El Grito de Poetas -  a group of Latinx poets dedicated to spreading information about their various cultures, heritage and traditions through spoken word and poetic performances. The students also engaged in meaningful discussions with group leaders.

Unity Day is sponsored annually by Suffolk County Community College’s  The Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding, Inc., Suffolk County Human Rights Commission and Suffolk County Interfaith Anti-bias Task Force
