Mission

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL)* reports to the Office of Academic Affairs, and as such, provides leadership for designing and implementing faculty and professional development programs that advance the college mission, that reflect research-based best practices related to community college instruction, and that foster a sense of community for faculty who wish to enact continuous improvement of their teaching practice.

Goals

The work of CTL is driven by three main goals:

  1. Collaborating with faculty to provide high-quality instruction (focused on student learning, student engagement, student retention, and assessment);
  2. Creating faculty and professional development that emphasizes student-centered use of academic technologies for teaching in all instructional delivery modalities, and;
  3. Exploring pedagogies that focus on equity in access, instruction, and assessment.

* In Fall of 2023 the Center for Innovative Pedagogy became the Center for Teaching and Learning.
