How to Apply

Continuing Suffolk Student Application Requirements:
In order to be considered for the "Get There From Here" scholarship, a student must:

    1. Complete the Get There From Here scholarship application for CONTINUING students on the online scholarship system.
      • Complete information page
      • Personal Statement
      • Essay 1
      • Essay 2
    2. Confirm transcript demonstrates a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 in college-level coursework.
    3. Submit two letters of recommendation
    4. Have a current FAFSA on file if able to do so.
 

 

 New Suffolk Student Application Requirements:

In order to be considered for the "Get There From Here" scholarship, new students must have applied and been accepted to the College and must:

    1. Complete the Get There From Here scholarship application for NEW students on the online scholarship system.
      • Complete information page
      • Personal Statement
      • Essay 1
      • Essay 2
    2. Confirm official high school transcript and evidence of the ability to succeed at college-level course work. This may be demonstrated by SAT scores, ACT scores or by the College CPT placement tests taken after acceptance to the College.
    3. Submit two letters of recommendation
    4. Have a current FAFSA on file if able to do so.

Program Requirements

Awarded scholars must:
1. Be enrolled full-time (12 or more credits per semester). A limited number of part-time scholarships will be awarded to students who exhibit outstanding potential.
2. Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
3. Volunteer for a minimum of 10 hours per semester at an approved agency/non-profit organization.
4. Participate in at least four College service events per year and publicly represent the SCC Foundation and/or the College’s student body when asked to do so.
5. Have a current FAFSA on file if able to do so.
6. Meet periodically with the GTFH Program Coordinator.

The student must have filed an annual FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). As long as all scholarship requirements and scholar expectations continue to be met (inclusive of filing an annual FAFSA form) and the student remains continuously enrolled at Suffolk County Community College with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, the scholarship is renewable for up to a maximum of five semesters, or until the student graduates.
