About the Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding (CSJHU)

The Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding: Featuring the Holocaust Collection (CSJHU), formerly the Suffolk Center on the Holocaust, Diversity and Human Understanding, was established as a 501c3, not for profit organization in 2003 with the donation of a collection of Holocaust and slavery artifacts to the College.

The mission of the Center is to educate our community on historical events, and to promote issues of social justice and respect for human dignity through educational programming. Our vision is of a world in which each person can live in peaceful coexistence and pursue a life in freedom and dignity, and in which our citizens reflect upon their moral responsibilities. In addition to programs and events, we offer tours of our Holocaust museum which houses the largest collection of Holocaust artifacts in the region.
