PROCEDURES TO FOLLOW

  • If you hear or see a person with a weapon, immediately remove yourself from the area; and
  • Notify 911 and Public Safety immediately.

Provide as much information as possible to the 911 operator and to the public safety officer.

  • Your name.
  • Your location.
  • Your telephone number.
  • As many details about the situation as possible.
  • Description of suspect, height, weight, gender, hair color and length, any facial hair, race and complexion, approximate age, vehicle description including license plate number.
  • Direction of travel.

If you are in an office or a classroom, lock or secure the door as best as possible.
Turn off the lights, move away from doors and windows, close curtains or blinds while staying low to the floor and out of sight.

DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR FOR ANYONE
You will be instructed by telephone or your room will be opened by law enforcement and college officials once the incident is under control.

Should you become a hostage, remain calm. Always follow the instructions of the police.
