Dear Adjunct Faculty Colleagues,
Welcome to Suffolk County Community College—New York State’s largest community college.
You are now a member of our distinguished faculty. Each semester, we employ over 1,500
adjunct faculty to help us meet the educational needs of our residents, and more than
2,600 adjuncts maintain active status with the College throughout the academic year.
To help you become familiar with the College—its policies, practices, and resources—we
have developed this website to support you in your role as faculty. Your academic
chair is also an important resource as you navigate your responsibilities and learn
more about departmental expectations and procedures.
Please keep this important point in mind as you get started: Your College email is the official method of communication. Check it regularly—even in semesters when you are not teaching—to ensure you receive
all updates and notices. Online students also use this email to reach their instructors,
so review your messages a few times each week.
Again, on behalf of the College, let me welcome you to Suffolk County Community College
and offer you best wishes for a successful and rewarding academic year.
Dr. Christopher N. Gherardi
